The University of Michigan is a U.S. state University with its main campus in Ann Arbor and branch campuses in Flint and Dearborn. The University of Michigan has 25 varsity sports teams. These varsity teams were called Michigan Wolverines. The official capacity of the Michigan Wolverines stadium was 107,501, though football game attendance often exceeds 111,000 when bands, stadium staff, and other people are added. Numerous renovations and additions over the years have increased the seating to the current 102,501 capacity.

The Michigan Wolverines played their first game at Michigan Wolverines Stadium on October 1, 1927 defeating Ohio Wesleyan, 33-0. The Michigan Wolverines Stadium dedication game was played on October 22, 1927 with The University of Michigan Wolverines defeating Ohio State 21-0. Michigan Wolverines enters the 1996 season with a 305-98-15 (.748) won-loss record in its 418 Michigan Wolverines Stadium games.

Michigan Wolverines and Ohio State Buckeyes are considering as one of the furious rivalries in American sports. The Michigan Wolverines-Ohio State series were voted as the greatest rivalry in sports, according to ESPN’s poll in 2000 and 2003. Both teams are always competing in the championship round and have provided many memorable contests, such as the "Snow Bowl" of 1950.
